Biography: 

After graduating from “Groupe Scolaire de la Salle Byumba”, Jean Pierre Bizimana studied Human and Physical Geography at former National University of Rwanda and obtained a degree of Bachelor of Science in Geography. He continued his studies at International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), the Netherlands, and obtained a Master of Sciences in Urban Planning and Management, and PhD in geography from University of Rwanda. He is currently employed at University of Rwanda as Senior Lecturer in Geography Department and as an Affiliated Researcher at the Centre for Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing (CGIS-UR) working on subjects related to urban and regional planning, Geographic Information Systems, risk and vulnerability assessment, integrated systems analysis, environmental health and climate change. He has been involved in consultancy work and research projects including HEALTHY FUTURES, a consortium research project funded by European Community’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013).
