The University of Rwanda Centre for Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing (UR CGIS) is calling UR Junior Academic Staff and Postgraduate Students to apply for a One Week GIS training to take place in its computer lab located at UR Nyarugenge Campus from 21st to 25th June 2021 (first group) and from 28th June to 2nd July 2021 (2nd group).
The aim of this training is to introduce them to the use of geospatial technologies. During 5 working days for each group, both theoretical and practical items will be taught.
In summary, the following topics will be covered: GIS concepts, functionalities and capabilities, spatial data types and spatial data modelling, spatial data source and acquisition, spatial data organization and management, introduction to GPS technology, and spatial data analysis. At the end of the training, certificates of completion will be given to participants.
1.Number of Participants: 30 (to be divided into 2 groups)
2.Who can apply? UR Junior Academic Staff (Lecturers and Assistant Lecturers) and Postgraduate Students (PhD and MSc/MA students). Female are encouraged to apply!
3.Requirements: Computer skills (especially Ms Excel and basic skills in Ms Access)

NB: There are no mission allowances for participants from UR campuses located in provinces. Only two coffee/tea breaks and a lunch will be served everyday during the training.
