The Chancellor- Dr. Mike O'Neal

Dr. Mike O’Neal serves as the first Chancellor of the University of Rwanda. He is President Emeritus of Oklahoma Christian University. During his tenure as president from 2002-2012, Dr. O’Neal implemented his vision for the university to be academically excellent and spiritually vibrant and to prepare young people for effective service to God and to their fellow man.

From 1976-2002, Dr. O’Neal served Pepperdine University as general counsel and vice president for finance and administration and was named vice chancellor in 1991. O’Neal was a member of the faculty of Harding University from 1974-1976. A CPA, he has also worked with three major accounting firms. O’Neal attended Oklahoma Christian from 1964-1966 before completing his degree in accounting and business at Harding University in 1968. He earned his juris doctorate from Stanford University in 1974, after serving as an officer in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1970.

Dr. O’Neal currently serves on the Rwanda Presidential Advisory Council and on the Boards of Bridge2Rwanda, Mercy Hospital of Oklahoma City (Chairman), The Christian Chronicle, Shepherd's Hill International, Inc. (Chairman), Oklahoma City Rotary Club 29, and Salt & Light Leadership Training (Chairman). He has served on the board of directors of California Christian School, Baxter Institute in Honduras, Ohio Valley University, Sales and Marketing Executives International, the Last Frontier Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and the United Way of Greater Oklahoma City.

Dr. O'Neal and his wife Nancy have two children and five grandsons and live in Edmond, Oklahoma, USA.
