The Call was made by the Principal of the University of Rwanda College of Education during an induction exercise for new students at Remera Campus. The event was marked by a series of presentations by College Officials to give freshers clues and tips that can easily facilitate them to integrate into Campus life. The exercise is planned to be carried out along the whole semester as opposed to inductions of previous years which were conducted in one week.

In his welcoming remarks, Prof. George Njoroge, the Principal of the College of Education told new students to clearly stipulate their goals and plans as a proper tool of guidance in their learning journey. He also informed them that they have a full responsibility to shape their life at the campus.

“Whatever happens from now on at the campus will much depend on you, you need to act as transformative agents of change,” Njoroge said. He added that new students should define their position at the campus and work hard to leave a mark at the end of their studies.
In the course of the induction, members of the campus community were introduced to new students and the later were given a platform to share views in order to get more experience about Campus life. Besides, Deans and other managers used it as an opportunity to present programmes and services offered in their respective units.

At some point in his remarks, Principal warned new students about the University freedom. He reminded them that living in the campus differ from High school life as they won’t wake up in a response to a ringing bell. With regard to that, he asked them to enjoy freedom with responsibility because the College needs learning outcomes, therefore they will not succeed unless they work hard.
New students were finally asked not to be afraid of making mistakes. This will help them to be corrected for those mistakes which will make them better people in the end because, according to Principal, people who fear making mistake are always stagnant in one point. They were also urged to demonstrate good attitude and discipline with much respect to public property.
New students were keenly following their induction.
